Protein ISSUES

I'm still having trouble meeting my Protein requirements. I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op and am steady losing weight but I'm not getting my required protein. I cannot cannot cannot do the shakes. They come right back up and Unflavored protein is NOT unflavored. I am trying to eat protein rich foods but am not eating a portion size big enough to amount to anything. So my question is, the protein requirement, does it promote and enhance weight loss or is it just something we are suppose to have nutritional wise? I wish I had a more supportive NUT like I've seen some people in the forum have so I could ask these questions. Mine strictly communicates through email and it takes days for a response IF she decides to respond.

The Protein requirement is to promote weight loss and to support your body as it heals and functions in a severe calorie deficit. You're going to HAVE to figure something out and at less than a month

  • I also have major issues with protein shakes etc. If you like coffee at all try this, it is the only thing I have found that is not just tolerable but kinda good. 1 Caramel Premeire protien shake 1

Have you tried the Genepro unflavored protein? It is virtually flavorless, can go in hot or cold things and packs allot of protein, I find that it doesn't taste bad like the other unflavored proteins.

Some supplements you may want to try:

ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates

ProtiDiet hot chocolate

WonderSlim puddings

ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken soups

Carnation no sugar added breakfast essentials

Premier Protein

Quest bars

Power crunch bars

I love the amaretto hot chocolate.

Also the mushroom Soup.

I didn't like the powder juice protein. I bought Popsicle molds and made them into Popsicles.

Have you tried the Syntrex Nectars? They are 100% whey Protein isolate, no carbs, no sugars, just ~22 protein per serving. Some of them you mix with skim milk (although I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk) and some with Water. They also have an unflavored protein product that I am currently mixing into almost everything (having real trouble drinking more than a couple of ounces of anything) and I can't taste it, even in plain water.

Go to www.si03.com and put your cursor over the monthly special. It'll tell you how to order their sampler pack (15 single-serving flavors for $17with shipping) so you can test out flavors and see what you like. Although you can order the sampler pack only once, you can order the 2 pound containers more cheaply from places like luckyvitamin.com

I cannot tolerate the ready-to-drink shakes. They taste like cooked protein and feel slimy; that's why I was looking at powdered WPI.

I also have major issues with Protein shakes etc.

If you like coffee at all try this, it is the only thing I have found that is not just tolerable but kinda good.

1 Caramel Premeire protien shake

1 single pack nescafe hazelnut instant coffee

Some crushed ice

Almost like it came straight from your favorite coffee shop.

Sounds delicious! I'm going to try this. Thanks for sharing.

You can use the vanilla or the chocolate Premeire too but the Caramel the best if you can find it.

If you don't get enough Protein you will lose muscle and begin to lose your hair. Lean muscle helps burn calories and the body doesn't retain protein do we need to eat it everyday. My trainer said that I should be taking in more than the suggested 90 grams but that is impossible without shakes and bars etc. I'm 3 months out from surgery. We will get used to this.

What about Atkins Lift Protein drink- it's a thin watery drink, not shake consistency...

I second this one, these drinks have been one of my recent go to.

Had the same issues. I'm 8 weeks out and gagged on every shake I tried. I'm back to Premier chocolate ones because they are tolerable but I have to force it down. BUT that's 30g of Protein in one shot! I also use the Syntex nectar in flavored Water (I love the Raspberry Lemonade Great Value flavor) so that adds another 10g of protein. Another thing that has saved me is eating a lot of Greek Yogurt. Each one is about 11-12g of protein. I learned the hard way though that not getting your protein in will cause your weight loss to STALL.

Try Core Power. Tastes like a real milkshake.
