  1. I am 1 year out from surgery, started at 195 and now weigh 167. Not even 30 lbs lost! I follow every guideline almost meticulously (with the exception that I could drink more water and could always exercise a bit more). But overall, I eat healthy and get 60-70 grams of protein a day so I am puzzled. I went to my follow-up appt and told my PA that I am SEVERELY exhausted. To the point I need a nap nearly everyday. She mentioned that it could be my hormones and that we may see about getting them checked. No one has ever checked my hormones before so I wondered if this could be the problem? I'm 46 years old - I just shouldn't be this tired AND I should've lost more weight by now. Anyone else experience this? Last bloodwork only showed slightly low iron but B12 and Vitamin D levels were normal.

    Hormone Levels Checked?

Not many. I don't eat bread or sugar. For the last 2 weeks I've gone gluten free, dairy free and sugar free. Still no weight loss. I'm going tomorrow to see a hormone specialist. I do have Hashimotos so my thryroid isn't 100%, but I take synthroid daily for that. I'm just very discouraged. My energy has improved in the last couple of weeks but that's all. [emoji53]
  3. I started on 7/13/16 with a BMI of 35.8, I'm 11 weeks out and at 32.5 (I've lost 17.6 lbs total). I know it goes slower for people with a lower BMI but this is VERY slow - like 3-4 lbs per month. Anyone else go through this? I'm meeting my Protein and Water goals, exercising nearly every day...all is going well except that I get a little discouraged. Would love to hear some success stories from others who lost their weight extremely slowly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm sleeved. Thanks for the protein advice. I started adding Protein Powder to my shakes now for the added protein and upped my water intake. I think I'm starting to notice a difference. I go for my 3 month follow-up on Monday 10/31 so we'll see how it goes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm 3 months post op and have only lost 19 pounds - so it could be slower! Part of it depends on how much you have to lose. The lower your BMI, the slower it will be. My current BMI is 32.2, and my weight loss is going VERY slow. BUT, try increasing your Protein and Water. I bumped mine from 50 grams of protein a day to 60 (trying to keep increasing it) and upped my water from 50 ounces to 64+ and I can already tell a difference. Be patient with yourself. They say slow loss is better for you than fast loss anyway. Plus you're less likely to have super loose skin. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I looked at my chart today and noticed it's getting slower. My first month I lost 12 lbs, second month I lost 5.2 lbs and the third month I only lost 2! I'm trying to get in more than 65 grams of Protein now but wow..... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. If you are exercising a lot, you may not be eating enough. Also, 65 grams of protein seems really low. My surgeon's lowest recommendation is 80 grams and is mostly 100 grams. What does your NUT suggest? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall My surgeon and Nutritionist suggest 65 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water per day. I will increase it a bit and see if that helps. I struggle to even get to that goal though already Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. 65 grams of Protein, 64 ounces of Water and I have about 900 calories a day. And I typically walk about 1-2 miles per day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Conflicting info!

I had the exact same issues (even though I'm only 2 1/2 months out). My goal was 50 ounces of Water and 50 grams of Protein a day and the scale never moved! As soon as I bumped that up to 60+ a day the scale started moving. Don't worry about calories. Focus on the water and protein and things will get going again. Oklahoma (tulsa area)

I'm in Norman and Dr Lana Nelson did my sleeve in July. LOVE her, she and her staff at Journey Clinic are wonderful and knowledgeable. However the support groups I've been to here are not good IMO. I actually found the few I went to kind of depressing as most of the people were complaining of setbacks and/or not that successful in their journeys. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hi new here! Surgery date was 7/13/16, lost 10lbs right away and have SLOWLY only lost 5 more lbs. I'm a "light weight" I guess, so people say it goes slower but STILL! I'm 5'1" (current BMI is 32.9) SW: 189.4 CW: 174 I exercise every single day (walking 1-2 miles typically), lift small weights every other day, getting 50-60 grams of Protein a day and about 50-60 ounces of Water per day (that's harder to do). I can't eat a lot at a time, so I'm not overeating. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Is this normal because I have less to lose? It's so discouraging and I'm worried I did all of this to only lost 15lbs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein ISSUES

Had the same issues. I'm 8 weeks out and gagged on every shake I tried. I'm back to Premier chocolate ones because they are tolerable but I have to force it down. BUT that's 30g of Protein in one shot! I also use the Syntex nectar in flavored Water (I love the Raspberry Lemonade Great Value flavor) so that adds another 10g of protein. Another thing that has saved me is eating a lot of Greek Yogurt. Each one is about 11-12g of protein. I learned the hard way though that not getting your protein in will cause your weight loss to STALL. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. UPDATE: Since posting this I increased my Water and Protein intake so that I'm getting at least 65 grams of protein and 60-64 ounces of water a day. I immediately saw a difference! The scale has dropped 1.2 pounds in the last 3 days. I can't believe that adding just 10 more grams of protein and 10 more ounces of water a day broke my stall. Crazy! 16. @@transitioning yes I'm taking B12 shots once a month, a Multivitamin twice a day that I buy at my doctor's office, a prescription Vitamin D, probiotic and an Iron vitamin daily. The one thing I haven't mentioned is that my bowels are certainly not as regular as before my surgery. I feel like it would help a lot if i could get those moving better! Water bottle

S'well is my favorite. I've had every other kind, including camelbak and I can't stand when bottles sweat. My S'well bottle keeps my Water ice cold, doesn't leak and doesn't sweat. Best bottle EVER. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Thank you. I've initially had a goal of getting 50 ounces of Water a day and 50 grams of Protein a day. I usually can meet that. Do you think i need more? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?

@@pnt38 i just posted a topic yesterday with similar concerns. I'm 2 months out and have lost a TOTAL of 15-16 pounds. I'm 5'1", surgery weight on 7/13 was 189 and i'm now 174. Exercising daily and trying hard to get in at least 50 ounces of Water and 50 grams of Protein daily. I'm wondering if i need to get even more than that? So frustrating. But i understand where you're coming from. I can't imagine going through all this, and spending all the money to just lost 15 pounds.....UGH! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
