Tightness under left incision

Recommended Posts

I am 6 days post op and today when I was moving I had a little pain under my left incision scar, I noticed when I bend over I can feel tightness not really pain? From what I read if I pulled out a internal stitch I would know it, has anyone else experience this? I plan on calling my team tomorrow just asking

Hey, not sure if we felt the same pulling/tightness sensation, but I talked to my surgeon's assistant about it too. Mine was super painful though as I did a LOT of lifting I shouldn't have been doing in the first week after surgery. (I've got a 3 & 4 year old I had a hard time saying no I can't pick you up to) But anyway, she told me it's muscle spasms on the suture/staple line depending on what your surgeon used and if he had to cut through ab muscle. I'd still ask your Dr. or Nurse since that's what they're there for... but you've gotta do some hard work to rip those sutures/staples! Believe me I put mine to the test LOL! Good luck and congrats on surgery!

Just so you know I had much more tightness and soreness on left side. My nurse told me that is one of the incisions that is manipulated more during surgery so it along with one near belly button where they pull out stomach hurt the most and take longer to heal.

And it was noticeably different for about 2 weeks for me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
