These are some great answers! @@dede_mont and @@Dub I completely agree with missing being able to drink fluids while eating a meal! It is so…natural…to do so, and it is something I just took for granted before WLS.

I know exactly what you mean, @@aug33k, about being frustrated walking through a grocery store and seeing all those off-limits products. That used to drive me crazy, too. Now I try to think about it differently, and it has helped. Instead of focusing on the products I used to enjoy but can’t have anymore, I try to focus on finding new healthy options. Since there are about 50,000 different products in an average supermarket, I am pretty sure there must be plenty of healthy, interesting, and delicious foods to try – I just have to look for and find them!

I finally stopped having panic attacks in the grocery store...but, I have developed a hernia at some point after my sleeve surgery. I have had to endure an upper GI, and I am scheduled to have another upper endoscopy (I had one pre-op already) At the very least, I am faced with a hernia repair surgery, and possibly conversion to RNY. So, I guess complications are weighing me down right now. Kind of discouraged. And on top of it all, my weight loss has stopped at 3 months out.

Three weeks out and I'm sooooooo glad it's over. tough, tough surgery, but if having it will help stabilize my spine it will all be worth it. would I have skin surgery just for cosmetic reasons? HELL NO!!! I am content with my scars less painful life. All will be well.

Thank you for caring enough to ask, Friend.

Of course! I just wish I'd have known before so I could have checked in on you sooner.

it can be a double edged blessing. Getting both the fluids in a and the Protein requirement both can be exhausting. Knowing that by doing this I win for another day - balances it.

For me it's getting used to all the people who want to know how much I weighed before, how much I've lost, what size I wear which half the time I don't even know, or wanting to see before pictures and making comments like "wow look how huge you were" or "you are so tiny now" and I don't feel tiny. I still feel huge and it feels like they are still ridiculing me for my weight even though that's not my weight anymore. I have to take lots of pictures to be sure that I am progressing because it's hard to see when I look in the mirror. When I hold the pic in my hand, it's obvious that changes have happened, but my mind still plays tricks in the mirror.

^^This exactly is how I feel.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
