Hi everyone! I just found this app and I'm so thankful! I have been approved for the sleeve, and surgery is scheduled for September 19. I had to go through the 6-month physician supervised weight loss before my insurance would approve me. I lost a little, but since I am hovering at a 40 BMI it was a little like playing Russian roulette with the scale. If I dropped below 40 I ran the risk of a denial. I hate those games you have to play!

Now that I'm approved I'm starting my lifestyle change in earnest. Protein focused, carb-light meals, cut out soda, cut down on caffeine. I start my 2 week pre-op diet in 18 days. I'm excited and nervous!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to get through the pre-op fast? I'm so afraid I'll be starving, lol. Also wondering; what are your exercise routines?

welcome! my surgeon allowed me to eat during my pre-op diet. He put me on a high Protein low carb diet. That meant no dairy except eggs and cheese, no veggies unless they were green and leafy. I could have all the protein I desired and my carbs had to be under 20 grams a day. I did it and lost 10 pounds before my surgery. I also had the sleeve and I am so grateful for it. Congrats on getting approved, it gets better from here!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
