I saw my surgeon last month, my prim dr agrees to the bypass surgery due to my type 2 dietbies, went to the sic that went well, went to the nutritionest and that went well now I have to go for blood work tomorrow. I hope that is all I need to do before they send it in for approval for surgery. I have to go back next month to the surgeon. I hope it don't take to long. I am doing this for my type 2 dietbies is getting uncontrollable now and this surgery would help everyone told me. Abd the weight loss is a plus.

I am 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass. It is interesting how quickly type 2 diabetes can be sent into remission by the surgery. I was off all my diabetes meds two days after the operation when I left the hospital and haven't taken any since.

That is great, that is what I'm hoping, can you tell me how long it took you to get your approval from your insurance and when you got the surgery.

@@candiecane

I was off my diabetes meds before I left the hospital and my A1C currently sits at 4.8.

I will say my diabetes was well controlled with Metformin and diet before surgery so that may be why it happened so quickly for me.

Also, I never thought in a million years I would actually get to a normal weight. Once I got going, I simply refused to stop until I got to an optimal weight and I did not know I would feel that way. The more I lost, the more energy I got and the better I felt.

That great, I gust got the blood work done today and they said the dr should have it next week. And I hope the dr staff will summit it as soon as they get it. Im hoping I will get an approval by the time I go back on the 12. Thank you for your input.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
