Gastric Sleeve! I need help!

Recommended Posts

I just had gastric sleeve on Saturday the 23rd and the first two-three days I did feel full and .. not hungry at all. But now I'm worried because I'm in a position where I don't know how much to drink and I don't know when to feel full? The guide sheet says 30 ML every 15 minutes but I don't know how much that is and I don't know when to get full and its worrying me! Its my first week and I'm doing Clear Liquids ONLY! pls help.

30 ml - 1 Fluid oz. I wasn't able to drink that much the first several days but that is what my doctor wanted me to do also... Just try to sip as often as possible... Good Luck...

You won't get full on liquids, they go right through your pyloric valve. You really don't need to worry about that at this point, just concentrate on drinking enough.

The guidelines such as "30 ml every 15 minutes" are usually a minimum to keep you from getting dehydrated, not a maximum to keep you from drinking too much.

Do you not have some sort of measuring spoons or cups to use?

Get a shot glass, and sip on it with Water. It will keep you from gulping too much at one time and its a good training aid.

@@Bufflehead Thank you so so much! That helped me a lot actually! I was really worried at first,

and no I don't have any measuring cups unfortunately but I will invest in some very soon.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
