What did you just call me?

Recommended Posts

Since I have reached my goal weight I am profoundly appreciative of the words people use to describe me;

Slim(heard this a few times)

Thin - Wow!

Fit - now this one I am shocked at, I have never before been fit.

Teenie Tiny - this one is funny!

What words have people used to describe you? Are you amazed, shocked, happy, grateful or do you even not believe it.

I've heard thin, slimming down, skinny best I can recall. I'm now in the "how much more do you plan to lose" phase because-- I apparently don't need to lose any more according to others.

Tiny tot. Lol. It was a guy at work who hadn't seen me in 6 months. I was down 50lbs at that point. No one really noticed until then.

Teeny tiny is what I hear most often. My boys who I see every few months are the most shocked by my weight loss. They have only ever known me as obese so they both are freeked out and tell me I am too skinny.

Oh and because I am tall I have heard a few references to my old favorite string bean. (Before I had my children I was tall an stick thin and was called string bean relentlessly by class mates)

If only I had know how much I would appreciate being called a string bean now. I have worked hard for it so I just smile when it happens.

My dermatologist who sees me every 10 weeks is shocked at how "teeny tiny" I am. He saw me at my worst in the hospital, 315lbs with a infection that could have taken my life so we are very close. He saved my life once literally.

Wait until he sees me in August! I had my first plastics and he is going to be happily shocked at the results.

People call me skinny, or tiny but I'm still not really. I'm a size 12 but I'm just built big and I'm muscular. But the most important thing to me is that I'm strong, fit, and healthy so I'll take it.

People have started to call me all of the things you all have mentioned. Its weird because I do not see myself that way. My favorite was an old high school classmate said I looked "so healthy". I loved that comment because that really resonated with how I feel.

Tiny and slim and the most famous questions how much more are you going to loose you look great stay at this weight. I went from a size 36 pants to a size 12 pants by standard I still need to loose 28 pounds but my doctors and everyone says I look great and don't loose anymore .

Skinny. I get called this all the time, although I am most definitely not skinny (5'8" and 181 lbs), but I'll take it.

I recently got called a "spinner", by a female co-worker, lol.

And a make co-worker called me a "hot piece of a**" - I think he was joking :-)

Today someone told me I look like a 12 year old. Just when I thought I'd heard it all. ????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
