I hate people around me

Recommended Posts

So basically people have been asking me if I really had the surgery cause nothing shows yet. Did a comparison picture collage and all have chose the day of the surgery picture as being the one where I look "thinner" . Guess the buyer's remorse phase is kicking in now.

and I only lost 18 pounds since surgery on the 27th of June. kind of bumbed about that too.

Its still early. Keep your chin up. Thats a lot of weight to have lost in a short time frame. Pick up a 20 lb weight and u will see how much 18 lbs really feels like. Hugs!!!!

I didn't invite people to comment on my weight and in fact, I discouraged it. Setting yourself up with a picture collage wasn't the best idea, especially while you are probably feeling frustrated and hormonal.

For the record, people really didn't notice my weight loss until about 75 pounds, so there's that. ;)

You'll get there. Don't concentrate on other people's opinion of you. They don't matter.

If 18 lbs in fewer than three weeks isn't good enough, you're going to be unhappy for a long time. You've done very well. Even if it had been five lbs in that time, lost weight is lost weight.

As to the comment(s)* you've received: People are stoopid. That is not to say "tactless." It is to say "stoopid."

* Here is a rhetorical question. Was it truly "people" or was it "person?"

You've lost pretty much a pound a day...that's very good! Don't set up situations that allow others to make negative comments, that's just going to sabotage you at a time when you should be feeling very positive about yourself! When people ask me how I'm doing post-surgery, I never talk about pounds lost or how I look, I talk about how I feel. I feel fantastic, I'm in less pain, I have more stamina and more energy. Other people can't take any of that away from me :) Hang in there, you're doing great!

Ask them if your middle finger looks thinner! You are less than a month postop - it's too soon to expect visible difference especially in pictures (and wearing different outfits)! Your 18lb loss is amazing - be happy!

What kind of person would question your honesty about having surgery? Then state you haven't met their expectations for weight loss......

Stay away from the idiots and jerks.

Someone actually asking if you really had the surgery like you're telling them you hunted a unicorn. Tell them to frick off.

Lol, sorry, but it's funny to me, because my husbands grandmother is totally rude and she asked me why I wasn't drinking alcohol (she doesn't know I had surgery) and I told her because I was trying to lose weight and be healthy, and she said "oh ya, well how's that working out for ya?". I was floored. Sooo rude! I've lost like 21 lbs since she's seen me last, and your post just reminded me of her. Since I agree that most people can't tell until you've lost a huge amount of weight. At least in my experience I also have a snatchy friend who refuses to comment in a nice way about my weight loss. So I feel your pain!!!!! Just don't say shit to them anymore about your weight loss journey, and if they ask, just tell them you are on track according to your surgeon and unless they have a goddamn medical degree in Bariatric Surgery, they need to STFU and mind their own business.

I just had my surgery last Wednesday. I only told a selected few people, and kept my business to myself. Everyone is different and loses weight differently. 18 pounds is a lot of weight in a month. And if you feel like you're not losing enough...see your doctor to see what changes you may need to make. Keep going!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
