Has anyone else had episodes of severe sweating not related to a meal? It happened to me about three days ago, and at that time I attributed the symptoms to having a hard time having a bowel movement. Then it happened again today when I was walking in the mall, at a reasonable pace, not what I would consider over-exertion. My hair gets soaked, and my entire body gets very sweaty. It's very uncomfortable, because it takes a long time to cool down and get it to stop. I have a call into my doctor's office, but unfortunately it was a little late to get a call back today. I have had hot flashes before, and this is different. I thought it might be low blood sugar, but it feels different from that also. I don't believe it's a fever either. Anybody else have these "episodes"?

It sounds like a hot flash to me. I know our hormones get out of whack after the surgery. It's possible it could be hormones.

Oh boy...I hope it doesn't last long! It's pretty uncomfortable. Maybe it will settle down once I get some weight off.

One possibility is that your thyroid has gone a little wonky, that is, not producing properly. Diagnosis is by simple blood test and, if you do have hypothyroidism, the standard med, synthroid (generic levothyroxine) works well. I don't know of hyperthyroidism may also be a cause. On the chance that you already take meds, your doctor will order blood work to see if the dosage needs to be adjusted. Hypothyroidism isn't desirable, but it is manageable.

@@WLSResources/ClothingExch Thanks so much for the info. I will contact my primary care doc and see if he will check it for me.

Sounds like a hot flash. Perimenopause is much longer than we think -- starting with the on and off hot flashes. I've had thyroid issues in my life and have been experiencing menopause -- so I know the difference between the two. If it feels as if the heat is coming from inside -- my guess is its a change in the type of hot flash due to the hormonal shifts of the surgery. Your doc will be able to give you better advice. In the mean time, cool washcloths at the back of the neck can help you cool down.

Thank you all so much. I feel better having some ideas of what could be going on. I will make some more phone calls tomorrow and see what I can figure out.

Sounds like low blood sugar, this happens to me. I was sweating, shaking, collapsed on the floor. So now I carry tic tacs in my purse as a back up but I always try to carry a container of Powerade WITH sugar, I drink 2-5 oz and I feel back to normal. Try to split your Protein up and have some in the beginning middle and end of day so you can keep your blood sugar consistent. Helped me so much!

Could be hormones, as we lose weight a lot of hormones get released. My testosterone has been way up. Increased energy, acne, waaaaayyyy more interest in certain extra curricular activities than I've had since I was a teenager. So aside from the acne all good.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
