Can anyone tell me how day of surgery goes at Kaiser? When is the final weigh in? Have any of you had your surgery canceled due to weight gain? I haven't gained weight but my body hates me and I'm stressing out about being one lbs heavier or something.

I think I'm late with this reply. Was your surgery 2 days ago?

Oh good. I'm on time then. I was weighed on my pre-op education appointment and the day of surgery. It really depends on your doctor. On my pre-op education appointment, I had gained 2.6 pounds. My surgeon didn't cancel my surgery.

Did you do the options program?

Oh well at least you have that. I had to do a 12 week class and if I gained, my doctor would not operate. When I graduated, I had lost 19.6 pounds.

The day of surgery, I laid on a bed and they attached me with my IVs. When they said it's time, I blacked out. Lol. Then I woke up with a breathing mask on my face. I remember it was sooo itchy. A lot of people have bad experiences with recovery. I am very lucky because my recovery was very smooth. I felt normal pain but that is something you deal with on your own. To this day, 7 weeks post-op, I still have not felt hunger pains.

I had nothing but broth, Water and ice chips. The beef tastes the best! Other than that, the nurses check in here and there with meds. I had my own room, which was good because I kept getting up to try to pass gas. Walking didn't work for me. But remember, it does go away. Lol. I cried because I thought I'd have it forever.

Oh Gosh, im totally afraid of this! Im taking the options class now and have 4 more classes to go. I've only lost 7 lbs so far and I'm getting a revision from my lapband I had removed in Dec. I currently weigh 184. I'm hoping with 4 more lbs, they wont deny me. I've attended every single class and always turn in my weekly work. Gahh..I feel like a lot of people aren't really on it it my class though. I hope I still get approved.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
