Questions 4 days after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Monday August 13. I feel pretty good a little tired and blurry vision. Not sure what that is all about-scarey. But I occassionally feel something "pop" or maybe "kick"on my left side. If I put my middle finger on my belly button and lay my hand down the feeling is about where the palm of my hand is. Also, I feel uncomfortable when I sit for a while. I get achy in my back area. Any input will be appreciated.

I was banded 8/16. sorry, I don't have any of your symptoms. my port site just hurts. Have you not been getting out of the house or sleeping on and off during the day? that might be causing the blurry vision. I still feel pretty terrible.

Hey, we're bandmates! I know exactly what you're talking about. I think it's just muscular twinges and twitches as things heal up and go back into place. Today is the first day I've done much more than sit at a desk and I am reallyl feeling it in my midsection. Guess getting in and out of a car (about 50 times today so far) is harder on me than I thought!

All these little feelings are messages our bodies are giving us to TAKE IT SLOWLY. I for one am going to listen, and am about to retreat with a book. Feel better!

I was banded on the 17th and just have soreness around my port. I am doing very well, I think. I can drink liquids with no problem. I just feel as if I have done an extensive abdomen workout. My physician told me to stay on top of the pain. He suggested I take the pain medication regularly which I have been doing.

Your doctor is very smart, angeleyes. The whole idea of pain management is not to wait until the pain HITS to take your meds. You take a little and let it coast and take a little more at regular intervals. The idea is NOT to have the pain and/or to minimize it considerably. I hear a lot of folks talk about being "miserable" after surgery. It is just NOT necessary!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
