Share Your Father-Friendly Recipes!

With Father’s Day coming up next Sunday, I’ve been thinking about how we’re going to Celebrate, and wondering how all of you celebrate! I’ll probably end up with my kids and parents eating – thankfully – a healthy meal from the grill. I’m sure my dad will cook up some burgers and my mom will serve a nice spread of sides and Desserts, but my parents know I’ll fend for myself when it comes to healthy eating. They won’t mind when I show up with some chicken breast or ground turkey patties and a salad, so that is what I will do.

What are you planning to do for Father’s Day? How will you keep your eating clean? And, do you have any great recipes to share that everyone at the party will love?

We usually grill teriyaki salmon and mixed veggies for Father's Day because they are a favorite of my dad and husband. I'll have Asian cole slaw and salad for add ons, but I usually stick to the grilled foods.

Dessert will be strawberries, watermelon and angel food cake with whipped cream. I'm not a dessert eater, so...

Summer is almost too easy when it comes to a bariatric menu.

I LOVE and have cooked for my dad before - Peppercorn Pre-Seasoned Pork Tenderloin. He is a meat and potato guy though so I will probably make some sort of potato (that I will likely avoid) and then a salad. . (My recent favorite is Tomato, cucumber, green olive and goat cheese but he won't eat that either....) I think for another side I will make cheese stuffed jalapenos (reduced fat blue cheese and 1/3 fat cream cheese makes a great filling which I also love in roasted mushrooms!)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
