are there any other people here who just love to get lost in a good book? What are you reading this summer? my best loves are historic fiction and biographies, but I also like books that make me laugh - and I think my summer reading list will focus on the latter, especially when I go on vacation.

I love to read! Most recent book I finished was Girl on the Train. It was decent but didn't change my life. I kind of guessed the ending before I finished it. Complicit and Damage Done are two very good YA thriller books that area solid enough for adults to enjoy. Both had crazy endings I couldn't guess.

I'm reading Delirium (another YA but I'm having a hard time getting into it) and listening to Remember Me This Way while I do my landscaping and gardening (thriller).

I love thrillers, YA books, and general fiction. Light reading. I'm much too exhausted to try to do any deep reading at this point in my life but I'll get back to it when I'm no longer raising wild animals (i.e. toddlers).

When I was a middle school teacher, I told my students I'd read any book they did and we'd do lunchtime book talks (I supplied cupcakes!), to encourage them to read. YA books are much better now than when I was a kid 4 million years ago.

I still read them!

For the fun of it I picked up this book called, "Dorothy must die". It's this crazy post wizard of oz story about a warped oz and Dorothy as a crazy ruler. It's not a kids book but it's fun all the same. I love a lot of Steven King books and along that same type of psychological thriller Ted Dekker is an excellent author.

Anyone from the 70's still alive and remember, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull"?

The next time I'm at the surf and the fish are napping, I'm going to blow the dust off of my copy and take the 20min required to read it.

I still love it. That's one very intelligent seagull---being able to write a book and all...

My mom used to have a copy. I haven't read it since the '70s.

One of my favorites is Ann Morrow Lindberg's Gift of the Sea. I give it as a graduation gift often.

J.L. Seagull" is worth a re-read. What's it going to take you--20mins?? Reading it ought to be mandatory for high school--in my opinion. There's sooo much between the lines is such an easy read.

@@Inner Surfer Girl If you don't mind YA, you could read Cinder. It's an interesting sort of dystopian retelling of Cinderella.

I've also heard good things about September Girls, but I haven't read it yet.

There are YA books called "The Land of Stories" I believe they are by Chris Koffer (the guy from Glee) and they are based off fairy tales.

I'm in the middle of Circling the Sun, by Paula McLain. It's really enjoyable.
