Got my tentative date! 6/27

Recommended Posts

I asked my coordinator if I can schedule a tentative date while we wait for the insurance to approve it because I start a new job July 1 and wanted surgery before. My surgeon is out of town the week of the 13th and the other surgeon is out the following week so the first possibility is the 27th. If they weren't going to be out of town for two weeks, it'd be earlier. Ironically, this is the same day I adopted my puppy last year

I met with my surgeon on Thursday 5/26, then met with the psych on 5/31 (Memorial Day was in between). I am going to get blood work and my EKG right after insurance approves... hopefully asap.

Anyone else 6/27?

Thanks! In a perfect world, insurance would approve tomorrow, I can have all my appointments on Friday and Monday and then surgery next Friday haha. But I doubt it

Not to be a downer, but have you thought about the possibility of not being ready to start a new job 3 days later. You should be off at a minimum 1 week, maybe even 2. You are very tired after surgery, and everyone is different, but you may have discomfort, it's probably going to be difficult, that's kind of cutting it close, please just consider this. Either way good luck to you, hope it all works out

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
