post-op SEARING pain on right side ???

Recommended Posts

hi all!

I was banded on Monday Aug. 13. I'm really feeling great all in all. even wound up on my stomach last nite sleeping.. !

BUT (there is always a but)

i have this SEARING pain on my right side. not where the cut is. but like an inch or 2 over. and the port isn't there (at least that's what Dr. told me). So when i asked her she said she may have cut some nerve endings and pain will be there for a few weeks. (thanks)..

The thing is i can sit and canlay with right foot bend. And when i stand if crouch over to the rite side i'm ok.. (just looks a little retarded) and if i lift my rite foot like on a ledge of chair when i stand it's fine..

ANYONE have experience with this???? I feel like my muscle there is RIPING APART....

it scares me..

THanks

I'm sorry to hear that you're in so much pain, how awful! No help here, I haven't been banded yet. Just wanted to say hope you feel better!

I ask that because you are ripe for gas about now. It could be that....you didn't mention having any gas pains yet....

HI Kacee

Nope, pain is in one place.. feels like my muscle is ripping..

gas is separate.. have that and THAT is moving. man. not happy ab. that..

but i can live w/ it.. it's the searing pain that is totally limiting me..

Adhesions is one thing that comes to mind. However, that doesn't really sound right. I'd get back with your doctor and I would INSIST.

Hi everyone I registered today. Just this week I started thinkng about getting banded.I'm having all kind of good but mostly bad thoughts. I want this but I'm worried about the change in my eating habits and the side affect when I get older. Please talk to me

I agree _ that doesn't sound right. I was banded on wednesday and I have the not so lovely gas pains, but no muscle pain- although my whole belly is quite tight feeling. I also now can't tell what's hunger pain or gas pain....

Muscles and ligaments get all tweaked during any surgical invasion. Could it be various internal filaments balking at movement until their bruising heals?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
