Breaking a stall at 2 yrs out?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Well in July it will be my 2 yr anniversary of my sleeve! I started my journey at 336 and am currently 225! I have gained 10 lbs back since my lowest weight! I haven't lost in about a year and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to get back on the losing train?

TIA

Congratulations on the weight loss!

A year sounds more like maintenance than a stall. What does your current food plan look like?

I would suggest you make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals and strategies for reaching them.

In the meantime, go back to basics:

Track your food.< /p>

Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of Fluid and are reaching your Protein target every day.

Eat Protein first.

Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise.

Embrace the Stall

I was told the active weight loss phase is pretty much over with after 2 years and that I needed to be very dedicated to make sure I came as close as possible to reaching my goal during that time, with especial emphasis on the first year where you will quickly lose a large amount of weight. As a result of such I'm now only 14 lbs away from my goal and just a tad bit over a year out of surgery.

Not speaking to you directly, but it saddens me to read other people who were not told similar information as I was and it seems they do not lose enough or do not get as near their goal as they should. I am especially concerned with people who post about eating large amounts of carbs and who claim they have the NUTs blessing. All I can say is that only the end results count. If these people think it's okay to do that and they can reach their goal, then power to them. If not then they will learn the hard way that they were wrong.

Thanks for your responses.. I think I am going to try a reboot! My diet hasn't been the best, but I keep excusing it because I'm not gaining! I still want to loose another 50 lbs! Guess I'm going to have to get my butt in gear and do the work! Thanks

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
