@@MiloAndTheDiamonds - welcome to the family and come here and post - we have all had doubts/problems/issues etc at some point.

People here generally will offer as much support as we can, through responding, and lending a virtual ear.

You are definitely not alone. You have a whole world-wide community of support and advice here. Seriously, where else could you learn about the experiences of so many different people? And we all have different experiences with different aspects of this journey.

Don't focus on weight loss with the liquid pre-op diet. The main purpose of it is to be high Protein and low carb/low calorie to shrink your liver, the main purpose is not weight loss. So don't obsess on the scale right now and just trust in the process and stick with it and you'll be fine.

And I think the idea of starting up a support group in your country sounds like a fantastic idea for you to lead! Try talking to your surgeon's office about it and see if there would be interest from the other patients there and perhaps even the surgeon's office will provide a room there in the practice where you could meet.

Milo. Ian having surgery June 10th in Mexico. I have only shared with my husband and he really doesn't want to talk too much about it although he is really supportive. So yes I'm very nervous too,how do I explain my bizarre eating habits to people that don't know. My birthday is one wk following surgery and I have a twin sister...I'm doing this for me and taking life one day at a time...everyone has always come first... Happy birthday too me

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
