Lol ok so I had a sample new "depends" I got in the mail one time as I was getting nervous about my urgency issues a while back... I decided to try them out today after this incident because I need to get the rest of this gas out because I am having lots of pains and bloating with it and I am not doing so well in the bathroom lol so I am not taking chances... Bring it on, Gas!

I'm on day 5 post RNY and this is my issue too-not being able to trust a fart . I'm trying to figure out how to cope. Is this a long term thing? If so why isn't it talked about more so we can prepare Depends, wipes, bed pads before coming home?!! I feel upset at lack of preop information. What do others use to cope with this. Is it only RNY?

So I am 5 days post op... You know how they say to keep walking and keep passing gas... Well I went to Lowes with my husband today after finally starting to feel better and figured I could use a walk... Well I passed gas at Lowes after about 20 min of walking and unfortunately it wasn't gas... I apparently had my first BM and I started my period since this body is all confused and shocked after surgery. I mean it was bad.... on the way to the restroom I started to leave black gross trail .... Sooo embarrassing! How come people don't talk about this lol others must know this can happen lol

Good thing we live close so my husband went home while I was in a bathroom cleaning myself up and got me change of clothes... Saved by the hubby!

Still can't believe this lol I was worried that I was constipated... Wow

This happened to me too but mercifully I was still in the hospital and the nurses aids cleaned up. The worst grossest experience of my life and nobody warned me about the first BM. Vesuvius explosion of grossness.I feel angry and ill prepared and that i could have been warned so i could prepare. By the grace of God it didnt happen at home. My older disabled husband could not have managed. Now im home and have leaky farts and trying to figure out how to manage

I'm a year out, but I had the same problem in the beginning. It no longer happens to me, thank goodness! Maybe in time you won't have this problem. And you're right, it should be discussed! I didn't know it happened after surgery either. At home, I have an old towel on my recliner, just in case!

BTW, we call this a shart. LOL!

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
