I had the endoscopy done and he found ulcers on my stomach. He has prescribed me 2 medications to treat it but didn't say anything about me not qualifying for the surgery anymore. Because the ulcers are there does that mean surgery is a no go?

They will have to heal before surgery. You should also address the cause - so you don't have issues post surgery.

I, too, had ulcers and it didn't interfere with surgery. As a drug and alcohol counselor, I congratulate you on use being in the past. Good luck with surgery!

@@Autumn Riley Arnold Have you spoken to your Dr about the results and treatment? Ulcers can occur from several things - including infection, use of NSAIDS, stress, etc. Congrats on your sobriety - that's certainly something to be proud of!!!

No, I have not. It was just the day after my endoscopy that he called in 2 ulcer medications to my pharmacy. I'm just really worried that it won't work and I'll be denied!

I don't think they'll deny you for that - I imagine the most that could happen would be a delay. Hang in there.

I would think 14 days at least.

Oh that's not so bad! Thanks! Now I just have to remember to take them all. I have to take 4 a day of the one, and 2 at night of the other. That's a lot of pills! lol

It's going to depend on the cause of the ulcers and if antibiotics are necessary. Your doctor should let you know these things soon. Or you can call the office and ask.

I had an ulcer found on the first EGD. Went on meds. EGD repeated in 6 weeks. Ulcer healed. Surgery on 6/1. Take the meds. They work! [emoji3]
