anyone who might know??? I had my second fill almost 7 weeks ago. They gave me the max fill at that time, which was a 5. They told me that might be too much, but was gonna try it. From that day till now, it is extremely too tight, every time I eat anything it hurts, still throwing up at times, I called the BC after 2 weeks and asked them if I should wait, will the fill evaporate some, they said no it wont, and that I could come in and get some unfill, but I thot I would wait, and it STILL is the same. I asked why would it not evaporate, and they just said because. Then why would people need more of a fill, if they had only have a small bit? I reallky dont understand this, should I go after 7 weeks and get some taken back out, and why has it not evaported a bit?????help!!!!:help:

I think the reason is that after you loose a few pounds your stoma is smaller and therefore the band gets looser but that's just my opinion. I would most definitely get a slight unfill. I went through that being too tight for 3 months and didn't loose an ounce and then got .30 taken out and started losing 2 pounds a week again. Don't wait like I did. Good luck.

Hugs,

Margi, I'm sorry you are having such problems. The fill won't evaporate. The saline is not exposed to the air. The only way the fill level might go down is if there is a leak in your tubing. You definitely don't want that!

Go get an unfill! The weight loss with the band can be very slow with many of us. Don't expect overnight miracles. Being overly tight will only make you sick and might risk the longevity of your band.

Also, you posted in the April "06 forum. Maybe you prefer to be in April "07 so you can get help from your peers? It doesn't matter, though.

Good luck!

Margi, call HBC right away and get an unfill! The pain and the throwing up is very bad,the more often you throw up, the more likely you are to slip.

I wish you well!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
