Best thing I ever did

Recommended Posts

I am in Cyprus at the moment. I am sitting down in the same place as I was one year ago. Then I was waiting for my appointment with the surgeon which was set for 26 th May. Being self pay I was able to say what date would be best for me and my surgery date was 16 th July 2015.

As the old song goes what a difference a year makes ! Last year I was almost 18 stone today I am 11 stone 7 lb and still slowly losing. I am so happy I did this, so if anyone is reading this thinking about it, get sleeved !

What you have accomplished since your surgery is amazing and it should be an inspiration for all the persons that think about getting VSG.

Have a great time in Cyprus!

Take care.

I'm looking forward to being where you are (weight-wise, not in Cyprus!) one I've lost enough so that my breathing is easier, I'll begin walking to start.

Whilst I like the positivity of this thread, what would you say your biggest hurdle has been?

Thanks for the shout out Dub you are not doing too bad yourself!

Rosie I would say my worst hurdle was learning to eat slower. I still do eat quicker than I should but I have learnt to my cost that if I don't slow down I will get the foamies or excess saliva which means a trip to bathroom. Not sick but just very unpleasant.

Apart from that I would say it's been mainly plain sailing. I know some sleevers have a bad time of it but I was very fortunate .

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
