Congrats!!!

For the pre-op diet don't forget sugar free Jello and ice pops. Some surgeons will also let you have chicken broth.

I've been buying all my Vitamins and Protein through Amazon.< /p>

For Protein I like Premier Protein, it's 30g of protein in an 11oz shake, it's really easy to get down right after surgery and it only takes two shakes to hit your daily protein goal.

Congrats on your surgery date. Be happy that you only have to do a week of no eating, my surgeon is making me do two weeks. I am on day two and am dying of hunger. I will second the Premier Protein, that is what I am using and it does help for awhile. I also get all of my Vitamins on Amazon. Good luck to you, you will do great.

I was told to get whey Protein Powder isolate and that I would have to put a spoonful on my food. Other than that the others here have given you pretty good advice. I ordered my Vitamins from bariatricpal one of the gastric sleeve Vitamin packs. I pretty much though wanted to say congrats though!

For my pre-op diet I was supposed to do five shakes a day using Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement powder mix. They were so bad, just the smell of the powder would make me nauseous. I don't think there was a day I was able to get all five in.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
