Pain with hunger?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was banded in Dec and just recently I have been getting these weird pains in my stomach that seems to go away with food. Now they don't feel like hunger pains so I'm really confused. They are more achy, in fact the first day that it happened I went to liquids because I thought food would make it worse. Does anybody have any ideas or similar experiences?

Hi,

I am not banded, so I'm not sure what it could be. I know if I go too long without eating I get a real pain in my stomach and in my throat. It really hurts. The only way to make it go away is to eat something.

Not sure if this helped!

Margie

Generally I'll get normal hunger signals - an empty rumbling tummy, which if I ignore and get REALLY starving, then I can get pretty severe pain. My stomach kind of clenches like it were having a muscle spasm and the ache travels up my eosphagus and can feel it in the roof of my mouth and in my jaw as well as a tight stomach cramp.

It really hurts! Its not I'm a big hungry, I can ignore it pain, its very intense. Doesnt happen every time or even all that often, but its definitely hunger that brings it on.

huh weird. Maybe it is my bands way of saying that I'm hungry it is sooo wierd. It does in no way resemble what hunger pains were to me pre banding or even a month ago. Those pains were always sharp and this is really dull. I'll bring it up to my doctor, but I guess my hunger singals just changed.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
