Submitting to Insurance!

Recommended Posts

I'm soooooo nervous! Today was my final nutrition visit, and I am on cloud 9. My insurance, Highmark BCBS required that I do 6 months of nutrition, and a phych evaluation which has all been completed. They plan on submitting to my insurance today. My BMI is 37.9, it was higher but I have lost a little weight during my 6 months nutrition. I also have other comorbities so I am praying I get approved. Let the waiting game begin, as I bite my nails[emoji23]

Best wishes. I would wait a week and then follow up if you don't hear anything. I waited two weeks and then called the surgeon's office and miraculously my decision had just came through.

Good luck, I thought I was submitted on April 13th only to find out the submission was incomplete and when I called the surgeons office I was given the run around about waiting on results from some test that NEVER happened and I did not need because my endoscopy was totally normal.

UGH

Mine was also submitted on April 12th. I am in hopes of quick approval but CIGNA is notorious for rejecting prior to approval. They rejected the removal of my lap band - had to have a peer to peer consult before approval.

Fingers crossed for everyone to receive approval.

Hi @@WantToBe :) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I am with Cigna and the girl at my surgeons office said lately she couldn't believe how fast approvals started coming in from them. Lots were within 1-3 days. I will be praying for a quick approval for you!

Thanks, B_D. Wouldn't that be wonderful to have approval so quickly! I have had WLS before so not sure why I am so nervous this time. I'm 12 years older yet 100 pounds lighter so it might be a wash. I'm looking forward to see what April 2017 brings for me and all other sleevers.

Mine was submitted on the 11th to Cigna and I am still waiting...automated system says "pending." This part is driving me nuts, I just want to know it's approved no matter how far out they schedule me, at this point I would just be happy to have a surgery date.

Yes, having a surgery date makes it so much more real. Cigna should have just 15 days to approve or deny (or ask for further information). So you should hear something by the 26th. Hopefully it won't be that long!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
