First of all I go this Thurs for Blood Work and then I go the following Thursday( March 31st) for my nutrition class ( 8-10), then at 10:30 I have my one on one with the Bariatric Counselor and then I meet with the surgeon , I already know my Co-pay But will the surgeon be giving me a surgery date ??

So much of what happens has to do with what your insurance requires. When you meet with the bariatric counselor you should be able to find out then what the insurance company will require before giving you the final approval.

For me I had to do 3 NUT classes, EKG, PFG, PT class, Blood work, sleep study, and I THINK that's it.

Some have to do 3-6 month approved nutrition classes, some have to lose weight, others have to maintain.

I'm in the final phase... the waiting game for the insurance to give their final blessing...

Good luck, and hang in there!

Where are you? Who is your doctor? Sometimes that helps in figuring it all out too.

Hello again!!! My name is Terry, my Dr is Dean McDaniel in Victoria,Tx. I've already had EKG,PFG ,sleep study, stress test .... I had a pacemaker put in just over a year ago, have sleep apnea and was diagnosed with Cirroshis of the Liver (stage 3) back in 2011 , was caused by Hep C but went a year thru treatment for it ,am completely HEP C clear, so I'm not sure if my liver has regenerated it's self or not???

That is so awesome about your Hep C! I have a friend here in OKC who had Hep C, but none of the drugs worked to cure her. She ended up with a liver transplant last year, and this year started the latest treatment out, and 4 months later was cleared of all Hep C!

Hang in there till Thursday, I bet your bariatric counselor will have a ton of news for you then ;)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
