Waiting for insurance approval

Recommended Posts

So I'm just really anxious because my doctors office said they'd submit my file on the 29th I believe and she said I should have an answer for you by next week. Well....... I just spoke to someone else from their other office and they are telling me it was submitted on the 9th. So I'm just wondering when I'll get this call. I'm just so over the waiting part. I feel so much more uncomfortable as each day goes by.

Depends on your insurance, my insurance holds a meeting once a month to see who's approved/denied. If papers are submitted after that meeting you wait until the following month

I understand your anxiety! My office said they submitted mine the week before last. I did break down and call the insurance company, and customer service told me they had it, but didn't have the proper coding (I've seen this on other posts). I called my doc office, and the girl that submits these all of the time just laughed and said that was a pretty standard reply from customer service. She said she'd look into it and get back to me. She did assure me that it was the 3rd page submitted, and I believe her.

It stinks waiting like this, doesn't it?! We are in the same boat. Maybe we'll both get our approvals this week!

Congratulations!!! I'm happy for you, and very envious that you got the call! I can't leave my phone for a minute without checking to see if they've called yet.... the wait is excruciating!

So glad you are on the other side of the insurance now, and soon you'll be on your way!

@@pammieanne Thank you !!! And actually I called them I couldn't wait and come to find out it was approved same day they submitted it! So the office had lied I guess. I'd call the insurance an ask if they've approved it or now. @qpplejenn thank you! I hope you both gets your dates soon !

I called my insurance company & double checked all of their requirements....with a BMI of 50, they don't require a diet. (4 years ago, I did a VLCD diet for 6 months because they required it--can't do that program again)

So I'm hoping the surgeon's requirements aren't too crazy. I really would like to have the surgery in June....fingers crossed.

My insurance didn't require me to go on a diet or have the year long Dietian thing. I just know they do make you see the Dietian once and see a psychologist and then they give you a pre op class and then they submit your file and then you just wait for your date. But that's how it went for me I know everyone's insurance is different.

My insurance doesn't require 6 months of dieting either. I had to do 3 NUT appts, psych eval, EKG, PFG, PT class, sleep study, and full blood work. I've done all of that, and that's all been submitted... now I just wait.

My doc said that with my insurance, they have 30 days to do the final approval (BCBS of TX)

So I sit and wait... and wait... and wait... hahaha!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
