Anyone in Phoenix having surgery 3/21 or around then?

Recommended Posts

I just finished week one of the pre-op diet and now just have only one week till I have the sleeve done. I just wanted to see if anyone else was getting it done around when I am in the Phoenix area.

Hi David!

How was the surgery? How was your surgeon? I'm looking to going to Bridges for a consultation and I was wondering how was your experience with them.

I had Dr. Juarez and he was good. I only saw him twice before surgery and twice after. The surgery was fine, the waking up was not what I expected it was my first time having surgery. So far they have been very nice and seem to really care. A friend of mine also got a sleeve from Dr. Juarez and only had good things to say. They have classes you have to go to and that will help you get to know the place better. Good luck I am feeling pretty good and don't miss food at all. I have lost 4 lbs from Monday, so it has been coming off fast.

I went to the evaluation the first week of January and they called a few days later to tell me what I needed to do. I got all the paperwork and psychological evaluation and insurance approved in two days. So in short about 2 and half months from start to finish.

That's not bad at all I'm waiting for all my paperwork to come in so the patient advocate can turn it in and I hopefully get approved ! I'm attending the first class on the 5th . she said we are aiming for may but it could be June I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. But how are you feeling ? How much are you down ? Are you in a lot of pain ? Have you noticed a change in anything

I feel great! I was sore the first week but the pain meds help that. Since the surgery I have lost 18 lbs and my cloths are falling off. I hope your insurance comes through fast. Mine only took a day or so but I might have been lucky.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
