Starting my journey

Recommended Posts

Recently met with a surgeon and will be meeting with a dietician for next 6 months. I'm ready to have my life back and hope all my medical issues go away. I'm very excited and determined to make this life change. Now I just have to send all my bottles of moscato to my sister so I won't be tempted ha ha.

I have Health Alliance Connect also. Ice only been with them less than 90 days. They are one of 3 managing healthcare companies that took over most of Illinois states Medicaid recipients. They have told me that some of my meds are not covered because of cost. They suggested others, and thankfully they work well for me. So far, they have honored the surgery approval I received before they took over most medicaid programs in Illinois.

Happy you are going to take back your life back your life ????! I've been there-done that 6 month pre op evaluation and behavior modification. It may seem long and trying at times, but it actually teaches you to eat mindfully; slow down, small bites, good Protein choices. I loved all my dietician appts! The Nutritionists rock in my opinion ????!! They are you greatest resource. You can do it! Keep that enthusiasm burning bright ????

I actually have Blue Cross Blue Shield through my husbands job. Truly it's the workplace that decides if the insurance can cover such a thing from what a rep at BCBS told me

This is a closed/secret group for everyone who is going to have bypass surgery in February 2016!

We would LOVE to have you join in wit us! Just go to Facebook and search my name LaNae Davis Petersen, send me a friend request. I can then send you an invite to secret page and then I'll remove you back off my friends list :)

It's meant to be a positive group who we can all be going through the same things at the same tim on this journey! The goals will be to provide support, bounce questions off each other, have somewhere safe to share on the days that aren't so great, and share our victories on this journey!

MOST importantly it's all confidential, unless you are in this group people can't see the group, who's in it or what the posts are.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
