Hey guys :)

I finally did it! I had my surgery on 7/27. Stayed overnight in the hospital and came home the next day. I feel like I had the perfect surgery and so far everything has gone well. ;) I am now sitting at home (well, not exactly sitting as I have a tri-level house) and was just thinking about all you wonderful people who have unknowingly helped me along so much in this process. I was amazed at the lack of pain post-op, and how quickly I was ready to get out of that bed and meander up and down the hallway. This was the first time I had ever been in the hospital and the first major surgery for me. I just keep waiting on something to happen because I just know it can't be this easy.

I started out on Clear liquids and am now consuming full liquids without problems. I wil continue this until week 3 when I start pureed food and finally transition into regular food by week 5.

I have my first MD appt in 2 weeks to remove the staples (couldn't talk him into using the surgical glue). I will have my first fill at 6 weeks.

Just a question or 2: Anyone remember the "liquid days" and did you feel full after consuming the 4oz of liquids you took in?

I am also kinda scared of doing something to my band in that I am afraid to cough but I need to cough to help my lungs recover from the anasthesia. Anyone have a comment on this issue?

Anyhow, Just thought I would drop in and tell everyone about my progress so far. Oh, BTW, when they weighed me at the hospital I was 15 lbs lighter than my last MD appt. Did I really loose 15 lbs in the 2 weeks I was on liquids?

Oh well, makes me happy to think that it may be possible.....:whoo:

Yes, I definitely remember feeling full after 1/2 cup of Soup or cream of wheat. I thought, "Oh this is cool!" But it won't last for VERY long...maybe a week or two. As your swelling goes down you'll be able to eat more and more often.

Coughing won't hurt your band...but it may not feel so good! I remember once when I sneezed!! That HURT!!!!!!! Did your doc give you some breathing exercises to do as well? Every hour or two take a few very deep breaths....as deep as you can...that will help your lungs a LOT. Do that for 3-4 days.

Congratulations! You're on your way!

Sounds like you are doing great. i am new to this site. I have my surgery scheduled for thurs. Aug 2, and I am feeling very nervous and wondering if I should go through with it. Are you up and walking around yet? I have heard about so many failures, did you question your decision? Tracy W.

I am 1 week post op and have been up and around and dressed every day except one since I got home. I feel tired yet but have virtually no pain and the only pain I have had is from the gas and bloating. I am ready for that to be gone!!!

At this time I sure don't have any regrets about having the surgery. I am not hungry at all and have been on liquids but have been having Soups and if they are chunky I zap them in my Magic Bullet and strain any little chunks and enjoy!

Tracy, I had Surgery Friday the 27th. I'm up and around. I actually went into work today to get a few things (did not stay). I am a little sore. That's it! Good luck to you. You will do fine.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
