So my surgery date was July 13 2015. I have lost 53lbs and have plateaued and haven't lost any weight in 2 months. I stopped exercising one of those months and I'm wondering if that's why I plateaued. Some suggested I may be in the maintenance phase. Is it too early for that? I'm eating 2 meals per day....high Protein, 1 Protein Shake in the am, and a snack in the pm. Any advice or anyone else experiencing this?

it's usually advisable to eat 3-5 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up. It's entirely possible you've plateaued because your metabolism is working slower than it could be. How many calories are you getting in a day? Because one shake and one snack is simply not enough food for you. At 6 months, my bariatric center recommends that patients should be between 900-1100 calories.

I'm 6 months post op also and haven't experienced this. I eat 3 meals a day and maybe a snack depending on the day if I am hungry or my schedule. My nut said that I should be eating between 600-800 calories a day. I guess that depends on your center though.

I am having about 600-800 calories per day. I just started exercising again last week. Hope I see some results again.

How many grams of Protein are you getting? I seem to recall that sometimes when you increase the amount of protein, the weight starts to come off again. Are you still keeping a food journal and writing everything down? That helps a lot.

That doesn't seem like enough food/ calories to keep your metabolism going. I eat 4 meals a day, one is a snack, . All are Protein forward, so I get somewhere from 70-100 grams in a day.

What is your Protein target? Mine is 100 grams a day, which means I have to eat frequent small meals and Snacks.

Skipping meals is a huge red flag. That is a very bad habit to get into for anyone but especially if you are trying to lose weight. It wrecks your metabolism.

Have you talked to your NUT lately? If not, I would suggest you make an appointment.

In the meantime:

Follow your program.

Track your food.< /p>

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and AT LEAST 64 oz. of Fluid every day.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

And, exercise.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have an appointment next month. But I have been eating only 2 meals with 4 hours in between. So today I started with a scrambled eggs for Breakfast and I am going to try and have smaller meals throughout the day...to be continued!

I am 5 months post op and I have hit a bump a couple of times. When doing some research I found it was when I wasn't eating 5 meals a day that I would stop losing weight. I make sure to eat 5 meals a day. I eat every 3 hours give or take. When you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and wants to hold onto everything you have. Good luck!

From what everyone is saying I think that's exactly what I need to do. I have been afraid that I may eat too much. I just started tracking my calories and excercise. I hope this stall passes! Thanks for the feedbak

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
