Kansas City Mo area Help!!!!!!

Who did you have surgery with and did you like them. I had my surgery on June 15, 2015. Our insurance changed and now Dr. Price from St. Luke's on the plaza is not covered. I need to find a new dr to go to for follow ups and want your opinion. Who did you see and did you like the office staff and the doctor???

Check with a SUPERVISOR at your new insurance company.

I had the same thing happen to me (a different surgery). They allowed me to see the surgeon as an In-network doc even tho he was out of network for the follow-up period. Same thing for the physical therapy. I had 3 more surgeon visits and 12 or 14 (2x a week) physical therapy visits covered at the in-network benefit but saw folks out-of-network. It can be done on a case-by-case basis. The reps in customer service can't do it but a supervisor can.

I went to all of my follow-ups with the Bariatrician, Nutritionist, and Psych through to my two-year point in December. There was nothing they did there that my primary doctor could not have handled. As a matter of fact, my two week appointment got cancelled because of blizzard conditions, so my primary saw me a week later.

Unless you have complications, your primary may be an option for follow-ups in a pinch.

i already called the insurance company and was told that they would not cover any of it, as they are out of net work and I talked to supervisor and a manager both told me "No":( They said you only need your blood count done so your family doctor can do that. If it had been closer to surgery they would have allowed me to see them up to my 6 months.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
