So annoyed. I have gained 2 lbs back of the 14 I lost. I stay hungry. I think I get my first fill the 19th at next visit.

Is it normal?? Should I worry I had slip???

It's not unusual to gain weight before your first fill so don't worry too much (it definitely happened to me). The goal of the band is to put pressure at the top of your stomach to tell your brain you're full with less food. You'll need some fills to get to that point. Make sure you follow the dr's orders and eat slow!

Don't be converned about a few ups and downs with weight especially before the fill. My weight loss before the fill was so slow I wondered if it was even working, but fear not! It will come right when you've had some adjusting. Also in my experience as a woman, Water retainment in the month means weight naturally fluctuates. I hope it goes well :)

When was your surgery?

Why do you think anything is different now than it was before surgery?

All you've had done is have the band installed...nothing else. It is not "Turned On" yet or activated. The band is adjustable and needs to be adjusted....and that takes time.

Everyone looses weight post surgery...even if it's not WLS, just from the post surgery diet one must go through. And with WLS it can be weeks long.

Then you heal, and begin to eat normally again. Of course you're going to regain that weight back...You're going to return to the place you were prior to surgery. Relying on dieting alone.

My first fil - adjustment was 4 weeks after surgery...also the time when I came off the post op surgery diet of liquids and mushies...

My second fill was 4 weeks after tat, 8 weeks after surgery...between the first and second fil I started to gain weight

After my second fill, things began to take effect, but not substantial. It was not untill my 3rd fill that the band really started to make a difference. And that was 3-4 months after surgery!!!

In between all I could do was the old fashion dieting...and I stink at that, which was why I had the surgery in the first place.

But once I got my band properly adjusted, and adjusted myself giving up bad habits and foods to correlate with the bands actions, it all became as easy as can be...and the weight just started to melt away.

But that was the toughest, most frustrating time o all...between surgery and the "Green Zone"...even after my last fill it was difficult to adjust my new lifestyle after an entire life of doing everything wrong...

I read posts everyday from people who are in this phase, complaining how hard and frustrating it is....but you have to get through it...and sadly, some do not, some retreat fighting change I suppose.

I can probably say it took an entire year before I was completely comfortable with my band, the amount of restriction I had, and how I needed to change my lifestyle to work with the bands actions.

It has been 5 years, the best 5 years I can think of...totally changed my life...and now I live from day to day not even thinking about it anymore...

hang in there...it is still too early..you have a rough road ahead but once you get through it by learning and educating yourself, you will not regret it one bit.

I had my surgery the 31st. I got the 19th for first fill. You are right still lots to learn. Learning to cook healthier and eat smaller meals.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
