Let me guess. You are about three weeks post-op?

None of us lose weight at a constant rate. We all experience periods of time when we do not show a weight loss on the scale. It is what we commonly call a "stall".

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight.

Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post op.

If you are going to allow the numbers on the scale to influence your feelings and emotions, then the best thing to do is not to weigh very often. Weighing no more than once a week, or even less often may be a good strategy for you, especially early in your program.

Just focus on following your program. Get in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise when cleared. Walking is a great way to start getting some exercise until you are cleared for something more strenuous.

Embrace the Stall!

I am two weeks and one day. Would that be a normal time to hit the stall??

I'm a lil over 3 wks post op. This is so GREAT to hear. I was away in S. Carolina and had no veggies, and I'm on soft foods. I thought not having veggies which caused Constipation was the reason I stopped losing weight. I only weigh myself every Wednesday so, will keep up with Protein & Vitamins & Water. Thanks for posting this & thanks for answering and making us aware of "Stalls"

I weigh obsessively which is part of my problem. Every time I go to the bathroom I weigh and then analyze it. I need to stop!

My crystal ball isn't working so I really couldn't say. This isn't something you can predict. Just follow your program and you will lose weight.

That is going to make you nuts. You can weigh 3 times a day and get 3 different weights. When the scale makes you nuts, it's time to put it away.

step away

When your body is ready. Make sure you are meeting Protein and Fluid goals. Once your body adjust and realizes you aren't dying, the weight loss will return.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
