Feeling the cold more with less body insulation. How are you keeping warm this year?

Recommended Posts

Holy hell its cold.!

What have you found that is keeping you warm this winter?

I have been wearing workout clothing to bed. But I think I'm going to purchase a duel zone heated mattress pad.

I'm thankful that my car has heated seats.

Turn my thermostat up to 70. sleep in a 95 degree waterbed. Wear lots of layers. Wear long underwear everyday from October to May. Keep an extra jacket, Fleece hat, and pocket warmers in my car. Niece made me a couple infinity scarves last year...wear em all the time. Drink lots of hot chocolate and hot tea.

Definitely layers..I found a pair of fleece lined leggings. I'm going to layer them under my jeans to work today.

Ditto. It was 8 degrees when I fed the horses this morning. Gonna be a high of 26 today :/

And the fleece leggings work great! I have two pairs plus one pair wool long underwear and 2 pairs of heavyweight silk long underwear. Insulated coveralls, down jacket, gloves, wool hat and sorels sitting by the back door to pull on when I go outside to feed or shovel or plow.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I'm constantly freezing this year. It's not as bad as right after surgery, but oy! I never used to be cold, but I'm having to wear sweatpants to bed, long sleeved shirts, jackets, etc. just to keep from feeling like an ice cube.

While uncomfortable, I'll take it any day over always being hot like I was pre-surgery and over 100 lbs. ago. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
