No. Do you have a therapist? I have noticed on this site that many folks do experience anxiety around WLS. Some for the first time and for others it is intensified. If you do experience anxiety, I highly recommend you talk with a counselor or therapist to help you cope with the stress and uncertainty of this process.

@@cjd2010 -- If you have anti-anxiety meds, see the prescriber about increasing your dose. If you have no meds, see about getting them. Extreme anxiety is a crippler, as you've discovered, and probably can be treated so that you can function and enjoy yourself. If the panic attacks are new, you really do want to see someone.

@@cjd2010 Yes, I do. I've always had anxiety but it's so difficult now. I am seeing a therapist but I wanted to wait until at least january before I start back on anti-anxiety medication. It's our hormones, they're wacky. :/

@@cjd2010 I went to my GP a month before my surgery for anxiety and she put me on a mild dose of anxiety meds Paxil, and it has helped tremendously!! I think I will stay on them.

It does pass for folks.

When your body is squeezing the fat cells for nutrients during extreme weight loss, lots of toxins and hormones are released. Those hormones can be a nasty thing while its happening. Also stored in fat cells are fat soluble Vitamins. That's one of the reasons it is important to keep your blood work appointments while losing weight.

If you are on any meds, it is wise to keep a running appointment with the prescribing Dr as your Rx might need to be tweaked many times.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
