Just wanted to say Hi to everyone I have been lurking for quite some time. I am the mother of 2 small children my youngest just turned 3 and my oldest will be 7 in December so it was very important to me to be around for along time for them also my hubby.

I was banded on July 16th in Greeley, Colorado By Dr. Johnell

So far I am doing fine hanging in there and of course you have your ups and downs but I believe it is how you deal with them. I started off at 241.00 and am now down to 196.3 which is unbelievable to me I am beyond words. My goal weight for me would be around 160.00 so hoping I can reach that in the next year and then just maintain myself. At this time I am at .8cc had to have some taken out I was at 1.3 cc which belive it or not was to tight and after some PBing irritated my Stoma and had to have some fill removed which is ok since I now really watch what I eat untill my next fill next week Kinda enjoying that I can eat a little more. Well I won't bore you anymore with me but just like to say that I enjoy the site and the people.

Hi Mary E, Congratulations on getting your band and amazing weight loss!!! So glad that all is going well with you. I, also had to have some fill removed and have 1.0 now. It really makes you "wake up" and appreciate you band, doesn't it? I realize that I've got to do my part for this thing to work. Best of luck to you!

Hi Mary,

I was banded by Dr. Johnell on October 28. I'm just getting used to my band. So far have lost about 15 lbs. but none in the last week. I "lurk" a lot here too and learn all sorts of things from this site.

I discovered there's a good reason for following the eating rules and will certainly go back to them as best I can. I'm not filled yet and I think I might have been eating a little too much just because it goes down fine. How did you do with the first few "very strict" weeks?

Congratulations on your loss. I too hope to get to 160 or so from a high of about 250. I just want to be able to say I am no longer obese!

Hi Denise,

You know the first month and a half I was not hungry I had to remind myself to eat I also went by his Bible Book he gives us on what we should eat. I still find that I refer back to the good food vs bad food and I walked alot the first 2 months. Just remember when you feel the need to eat and it's not time drink Water I found that would hold me for awhile other than that it is just getting the hunger out of my head rather than my stomach does that make sense? I also measured my portions when it was time to eat you know the little ounce cups they gave us so that I could visually see the quanity rather than putting food on a regular plate.

Remember when the scale has not moved you may lose inches rather than pounds but those 15 you have lost and being only less than two weeks out is awesome Good Job.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
