Any WA state sleevers with surgeries coming up?

Recommended Posts

Boy it's amazing how far you come in two weeks! Tomorrow is my two week mark and feeling good. Still feeing tired but I think that will get better once I'm graduated to foods in two days. I cannot wait! This liquid diet had been one of the hardest things to do. Mostly mentally. I'm so tired of sweet Protein and broth! I still can't get all my protein or fluids in but I do pretty good. I no longer have spasms or pain when I drink so I think I'm healing :) even my gallbladder surgical area is a million times better. I still haven't weighed yet- waiting for my post op Thursday and to be surprised. I sure see the loss though!I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!

Blkbell, glad to hear you are recovering well! I hate the liquid diet thing. Did folks have to do a liquid diet prior to surgery? If so, for how long? I'm on this diet where I have to go 10 days liquid then 7 days low carb and back and forth then 10 days liquid before surgery. Is this common?

Hi everyone! I'm local Seattle area!

I'm almost one year post Vsg. ( Jan 9,2015.) Just wanted to reach out and let you all know I'd love to answer any questions you may have about the process, etc! It's been an amazing year of change!

I'm healthy, well under surgeons goal weight and just loving life! There's still work to do in the skin dept but I couldn't be happier with my results! It's a journey and total life overhaul ... There's tough moments but the successes totally outweigh them. Just keep yourself committed to the process. Cheers to you all!

Hello everyone! I live in Graham, WA. I have my first appointment with Dr Houseworth at Federal Way St Francis on January 20th. I'm so excited and ready to do this! I've already had my insurance contacted and they cover the surgery, so now I want to get this process started. I was so excited when I found out my insurance covered the surgery and the appointment was the first thing I set up after it became active. I'm just sad that I have to wait until almost the end of January to go but its one step in the right direction for me! I would love to find people locally for additional support and understanding through this process. Good luck to everyone out there and Happy New Years!

I was sleeved back in July at Rockwood in Spokane (lived on the Palouse at the time). Rawlings preformed my surgery and Spitz my husbands. Learned early on to keep in contact with my case manager to make sure everything was progressing. Both of us had the 5am check in for the first surgeries of the day. Poor DH sat in recovery for like 4 hours before a recovery room came available. Thank goodness for puzzles and my iPad, lol.

To the ladies with Dr Houseworth. I'm using dr Anwar from the same office in federal way. My insurance covers but with stipulations. I have to do 6 nutrition consults plus one group meeting & a psych eval. Then pending insurance approval then we can schedule surgery date. My first nutrition apt in on Jan 4th. I've already had my consult with Dr Anwar he has approved me as a Candidate for surgery. Can any one help me with this process like what I'm looking forward to learning what to expect etc.

Hello 1Irene,

My insurance is probably a little different. But they too required a 6 month nutrition program before insurance approval. This equated to 1 consult a month. During the 6 months I did my psych evaluation, EGD, abdominal xray and all the other tests and clearances including cardiac clearance for surgery. After the 6 months the office sent all my info to insurance. I called abt every 2 days and was approved in abt 9 days. After that I called the office to schedule surgery. They also scheduled me for the pre op nutrition class and preoperative surgery class as well as a final appointment with the Doc before surgery. And of course my surgery date. They did not give me a check in time as I won't get that until my final appointment. They scheduled surgery about 6 weeks out from when I called to schedule so unfortunately I couldn't get in before the end of the year. But that's been my journey!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
