3 days out and have passed gas. How many days typically after surgery is bowel movement expected?

Everybody it different. it took me like a week or more before I had a bowel movement.

I was a week or so before my first BM after surgery.

It took a little over a week for me. I didn't even pass gas until the 5th day.

I cleared the house and nearly had a hazmat team here two days after surgery and continuing for a week. In fact my friend who was staying with me, went home after two days, he said he could not take the ass smell any longer.

You might want to take a stool softener ea. morning until you have a bm since you will have trouble straining. Also pain meds slow the gi tract

9 days for me.

And yes take stool softeners!

And don't be weirded out if your poops from now on are a light light brown in colour. And smell different.

Unless those things are abnormal.... someone tell me quick!

I'm on a nightly stool softener. I haven't been taking any main meds. I guess I have a high tolerance for pain.

My ass has produced things I did not even know it was capable of producing. First rule, and I and stealing this "NEVER trust a fart".

If I went into the bathroom and passed a kitten out of my ass it would not shock me, this whole experience has been shocking.

The hospital made me do a suppository the day before I was released. Like literally the nurse did it. It was embarrassing lol.

Day 5 for me. I was in the hospital 2 days. My doctor started me on stool softeners day 1 and I wasn't on any pain meds either. I went home on Saturday, farted all day Sunday, had my first BM on Monday. Have had at least 1 BM a day ever since.

Are you taking your stool softener? This is post-op day 5 for me. I take a softner twice a day( I was doing this before the surgery). Since I was discharged to home on Wed.of this week -- I been having a BM once every other day.

I'm 7 days post opp and I'm having trouble going poop... I "try" not to take the pain meds, but sometimes I need them. I am taking 2 over the counter laxatives an its not helping

I am 6 days post op. I had a little BM a couple days out and it wasn't too bad. I wake up at 1230 this morning and thought I was giving birth to a 10 pound baby. It was the most horrible thing ever. I have been taking a stool softener twice a day but apparently it didn't help. Glad I'm not the only one with horror stories lol.
