pre-op diet

I am on my second day of the pre-op diet. From the "doctors orders" I did consume 63 grams of Protein yesterday but it only came up to 566 calories. Does that seem right? Of course, it seems low to me. I woke up today feeling weak and with a headache. Is this how you feel for the whole two weeks before surgery? Does your body get used to the few amount of calories? Just curious what I am looking at for the next two weeks. Any thoughts?

I only have to do a pre-op diet the day before surgery.

Could it be because your BMI is below 40? My BMI is 36.9 but i still need to be in a pre-op diet one week prior to surgery date. I have a appt. with Surgeon tomorrow and will know more since ive gone for pre-op testing.

My doctor requires all patients to go on the Optifast diet for 10 days prior to surgery. The shakes and Soups taste great. I just started today so I have not eaten the Protein bar yet, but it is chocolate so I am sure it will be good. Surgery on the 12th!

I am getting ready for the big changes to come.

My BMI is over 40.

I'm scheduled for surgery 2 weeks from tomorrow and my doctor is not requiring me to do a pre-op diet. Part of me is relieved but another part of me is scared since it seems like everyone else does the pre-op diet. Anyone else not have to do the pre-op diet?

My surgery date has not be set yet but I have been on a supervised 6 month high Protein low carb diet. When I mentioned I thought that after this supervised diet the 2 week shake pre-op diet should be a bit easier. I was told I wouldn't have a 2 week shake pre-op diet. I would be on Clear liquids the day before surgery.

MFP has been yelling at me for not getting enough calories. I'm getting about 800 and 110 ish grams of protein a day. I'm not feeling too bad so far. Surgery in 10 days!

I start mine in a couple of weeks, for two weeks. Three protein shake/bar/soup/dessert products a day, plus a limited selection of fruit and veg. I don't think it'll be that bad.

Surgery Monday, November 9, yippee! I'm sick of the pre-op diet and ready for the next stage. Lost 15 lbs on the pre-op regimen.

Sure, I've been hungry on the pre-op diet, but it's worth it. I'm so happy to be back below 300 lbs!

Any one been on the liquid Protein diet and lose weight then just stop losing I'm not cheating and I'm getting really upset ..

How long have you been on the pre op diet?

I started it Thursday, and 2wks before that Is on 3 protein drinks and one meal then on November 4started the 5 shakes a day I'm so hungry but it's worth it if the scale moves

This pre-op diet has kicked my butt. The first 3 days were torture. I had a headache and was really sweaty and clammy, kind of like the flu. I think that was my blood sugar tanking. It got better, though. I'm now on day 6 and can't wait for this to be over! My doctor has me on protein shakes, dark leafy greens, and water. That's IT. Ugh!! Gotta power through, though! Surgery is on Nov. 16th. ????

My doctor has me drink 3 protein shakes a day, one cup of non starchy vegetables, and one lean cuisine that is between 250-300 calories. Just started this pre-op diet yesterday. Surgery on 11/30
