Surgery on the 12th didn't turn out too well

Recommended Posts

Well, I had surgery on the 12th but when the dr cut into me, he seen my liver didn't look right, so

he took a biopsy of it and my gall bladder and my spleen and my intestines. Long story

short...they found that I have non alcoholic

fatty liver sirrosis.. stage 3. The dr said doing a bypass would have killed me... but I can get

the

sleeve done. the only thing that will help my liver is to lose weight or I will have to have a

transplant.

So, I go back to my surgeon on the 20th and I am hoping we can get right on to the sleeve,

and not let any more time pass.

Good luck, the sleeve will help you lose the weight and could resolve your liver issue.

Hope it happens soon for you.

Oh my, I imagine this was disappointing news to hear on so many levels. I'm sure it took a while to decided on bypass, only to learn it would cause more harm than good is a lot to wrap your head around. Then the new of the liver disease, which ironically only resolves with weight loss...which is exactly what you working on.

All the best the sleeve can be done successfully and you'll be on your way to reversing the effects of the liver condition! Keep us posted.

I am so sorry to hear, but extremely glad they were able to catch your disease before it killed you.

My surgeon said that the U.S. Has an epidemic of cirrhosis of the liver due to the over use of high fructose corn Syrup.< /p>

Now that you have been diagnosed, I wish you all the best with your treatment and recovery.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
