Newly Engaged and Sleeveing next week

Recommended Posts

Hi all... 7 days to surgery date, and my bf proposed last week! Yay!!

Of course, the moment you announce an engagement which stops the "when are y'all getting engaged?", the question is "when is the wedding?"

Since I am getting my sleeve surgery next week, we are trying to make sure that we time the wedding enough post-op to not cause too many issues.

For those of you who have had the surgery, do you think that the process of losing and planning a wedding might be a bit too much?

We were thinking about a year or 1.5 years from now. I think that from a weight loss perspective, the bulk of my loss will happen by my 1 year surgiversary, correct?

I'm basically looking for recommendations on if you think 1 year is long enough to wait, or if it should be a little longer.

@@redsohare I Waited 5 years so I'm not the one to answer that. You can plan the wedding just don't buy a dress!

If you are thinking about having the wedding approximately a year to a year and a half after your surgery you will be fine!! By that time most of your weight loss will have occurred and your stomach healed so you can partake of some of your yummy wedding food.< /p>

One of my best friends just got married last weekend and she is 15 months post op!!

Congratulations!!

my wedding took 1.5 years to plan and pay for so just be prepared for that we had a small 70 person family only wedding and had the reception at my house and it cost 15 grand so if money is going to be an issue for you i would wait two years

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
