Getting Ready

Recommended Posts

well I did it. The dr got in and said that he had to do the sleeve due to my intestines being short to reach. Still kind of loopy but getting stronger staying hydrated is a chore and sore but other than that all seems well. Thanks for the encouragement!

I go in Oct 7, for my surgery. Getting the Gastric by pass. Started this ride in Jan and now finally the procedure. I have been experiencing a little anxiety as I get closer to the day but this is what I've been waiting for.

Outstanding !!!!!!!

I hope all is well, boss.

My surgeon advised me of the same probability.......sleeve would be what he'd most likely have to go to after encountering shorter plumbing that would make a sleeve dangerous. I decided beforehand to target for a sleeve from the start.

I'm excited.

I hope you are adjusting to things and getting your nourishment.

Well I'm almost 5 days out and doing great only spent one night in the Hospital, they said I was doing everything right so they let me go home! The first day after I had absolutely no pain. The second day I started experiencing soreness at the incisions I took the pain med twice then I tried Tylenol two times and I am taking nothing now. Weighed this morning and down 10lbs since surgery and when I'm up and around feeling good. The hardest problem I've had is staying up with is the hydration, sometimes it takes me into the evening to get but I will not fail on that item. It seems that smell and tastes are really strong and I have lots of gas moving around in my belly and chest but I seem to deal with that by moving around and walking. So far I've been pulled off my sugar meds and testing to see if I need to take them the same with my blood pressure meds my post op is on Thursday and I will know more.

Dub Tall guys with long torso are the one's with shorter intestines .......LOL

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
