Anyone have a recipe for sugar free pumpkin pie?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am pre-op but am hoping someone post-op may have a recipe for sugar free pumpkin pie to get me thru the holidays. I am not doing a crust either, just baking the filling in a small dish for myself so that I don't feel left out as everyone else is eating their pie and whipped cream! LOL Thank you!

I found several recipes on Pinterest. Just search for sugar free low carb pumpkin pie and you'll get some good looking results. I haven't tried them yet but they look good.

I don't know how they can call any of this "sugar free" pumpkin has naturally occurring sugar so it will never be sugar free.

And here's a more cake-like type to avoid crust.

If you are not allergic to it. Stevia for baking can replace the traditional sugar in most recipes. As mentioned it will lower the sugar count, but there will still be naturally occurring sugar in the pumpkin. If you are simply trying to cut out refined sugar, you can also use a bit of real maple sugar instead brown sugar.

I make an amazing low carb crust that works for cheesecake or pie by putting pecans (or other nuts) melted butter and some splenda into a food processor. After it becomes a praline-flavored delicious mush, spread it into the bottom of the pan, add the cheesecake or pie mix and bake. Better than regular crust, I promise!

Elode, jjmama, Blerdgirl, and marandogs, thank you all soooo much! I never thought of Pintrest. I have an account there but rarely use it. It was mostly for crafts. Marandogs, do you mind sharing your crust recipe? Thanks again everyone!!

Disclaimer: I've never made any of those recipes. I would just eat a real piece of pie. When I eat a dessert since it's so rare I just get a SMALL piece and enjoy it. Maybe 2-4 bites is enough for me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
