Quest bars and weight loss

Recommended Posts

I'm about 9 weeks out and have lost almost 30 pounds. Though this is slower than lots of people, I am pretty happy with it and will be delighted if my weight loss continues at this pace. I'm able to eat pretty well and I feel great. I'm not hungry and that is wonderful.

For the last week or so, I've been eating about a half a Quest bar as "dessert" around 7:00. I find them very delicious and I really look forward to the chocolate. It also helps me get in 10 additional grams of Protein. I track my calories, etc., and I am well under what my nutritionist tells me to eat. But I have not lost any weight this week, and I don't know if this is a coincidence or stall or related to the Quest bars. I think I had read that some people have found a correlation between eating Quest bars and no weight loss. I would love to hear from people about their thoughts.

My mother struggles to maintain a normal weight -- she has a tendency to be underweight, and has to really try to stay a healthy weight. Her doctor told her that if she added a Protein Bar to her diet every day, she would stop losing weight and either maintain or gain and be healthy. So she did start eating Protein Bars, and they keep her from losing weight.

Having witnessed that myself, I stay away from Protein bars unless I am traveling. Plus, they are not permitted under my program during weight loss.

I'm sure everyone is a little different, but I haven't found that adding Quest bars has slowed my rate of loss yet at 11 weeks out. I don't eat them every day, but probably 3 or so per week. If you only eat 1/2 per day, that would make us about equal in how much we're consuming.

So, I'm definitely interested in others' responses. Maybe if my weight loss slows/stops, that'll be something I eliminate to change things up. I know there are lots of people on this site that like the Quest bars, so hopefully you'll get some good feedback.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention that I eat them on the days I do my resistance training at the gym, as recommended per my nutritionist. I don't know if that matters or changes anything.

Everyone is different. Quest bars are a regular part of my diet. I consistently lost weight while using them. I'm in maintenance now and not gaining weight on them.

Agreed that everyone is different but I have a Protein bar every day, sometimes Quest and sometimes others. I have not had any issue with weight loss so far. If that changes then I may reevaluate them but if I have consistently lost weight over the last 9 months with eating them then I would dare say they are not the culprit if my weight loss slows down.

I ate Quest bars almost daily for the first 5 months, sometimes 2 a day and I did fine. I quite about 2 months ago. No particular reason I just decided to eat "real" food instead.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
