How much fill

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I am a newbie who has only had one fill, 4 mls in total. I am still hungry. In fact all I want to do is eat, but I think that's anxiety driven by the fear of not knowing if its going to work for me. So I believe the sooner it starts working the quicker I will stop obsessing. Does anyone know the average amount of fill I need to stop feeling hungry? I'm going again on Monday. Thanks x

It really varies from person to person...there are people here that report they have never had a fill and yet are doing fine loosing weight.. (good dieters perhaps?)

And then there are people who say their bands are filled almost to the maximum and nothing is happening....(hard to believe IMO)....

My first fill was about the same as you...4cc's here in the states, did absolutely nothing...as a matter of fact I started to gain weight between the first and second fill....

Too 2 more fills, for a total of three....7cc's in all, to find that "Magic" place.....that was almost 5 years ago, and since it has all been a very easy experience, other than learning to eat all over again.

But like I said, I read here about people having fills all across the board and are extremely pleased with the results.

Everybody is different. I had an allergen 10 cc band and never got over 5.25cc in 4 years that I had it. My friend had the same band, same surgeon and she had hers filled at 7 cc and still could eat whole foods. I believe it is just the anatomy, and positioning of the band on each individual person as to what level you will feel satiety. Whenever I had fills, I would usually get only 0.25 or 0.5 cc at each appointment. I never wanted aggressive fills because I have been too tight before.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
