Oh gosh today is the appointment with the surgeon to go over which option is going to be best for me and to submit everything to the insurance for approval. I am so very nervous!! Mainly because I am scared something will go wrong and I will not be able to move forward... All of the failures before has me expecting this to not work out as well:( prayers for me today guys that I don't pass out in the waiting room from anxiety! Lol!! Kidding but not kidding.

Take a deep breath and believe! Good luck with your visit today and with your application for approval. Keep us posted and let us know when your surgery date is and what procedure you have elected. :)

Thanks! I am sitting in the waiting room as I type, the physician is running behind due to being stuck in surgery. I feel better surprisingly now that I am here waiting.. Just ready to get this going!! :)

So the doctor is super nice and really made me feel comfortable. Not like an obese failure like I was expecting????

He was leaning more toward the bypass than the sleeve only because of my reflux, won't know more until my EGD is completed in Tuesday. He also gave me a checklist to complete like the nutritionist visit and psych consult. Also I need my current Pap smear and lab work to be completed. It's on a roll guys!!

Oh and I was told I am only 5 foot 2 1/2 inches and not the 5 foot 4 like I have thought for years!! I have shrunk!! But it put my BMI at 41.8.. That's better than the 40 and barely getting approved.

You will be fine I work for insurances company as long as your BMI is over 34 you are going to be fine. you do not need a medical condition to have the surgery

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
