I had some and wouldn't again for a while as I felt it was difficult to puree. chicken and tuna have been good though. Make sure you REALLY puree it and chew, chew, chew. I can only manage about an ounce and stop when I am satisfied rather than full.

No but then I hardly ate much of it as I didn't feel that even with chewing it was pureed enough.

Yeah salmon is allowed third stage 21 days post op .

Then I suggest you wait 21 days post op.

A lot of this process is learning to delay gratification. You'll have to do it a lot to lose weight. You may as well get used to it now.

Sounds like you're in the pureed stage. How about trying some other fish, like tuna which is easier to puree, to curb the craving?

Could pre-packaged smoked salmon be easier to puree?

My team allow fish and chicken from the pureed stage and I felt ready to try some. As I said in the previous post, tuna has been fine and salmon I tried and decided not to eat it and will maybe try much later on. Some things work and some don't. It's a case of try and see, as long as its within the guideline of your team. I haven't been sick at all since surgery so I guess my VERY small food choices have been okay for me up to now.

I think its important to use a bit of common sense too. You might really fancy it but if it doesn't always sit well with your sleeve it can go in the bin and go back to what does.

But chicken was the first dense Protein I pureed -- adding it to non-fat refried Beans and cheese nuked in the microwave.

Salmon was the first fish I tried that worked for me. tuna just felt too dry early on.

I have NEVER thrown up.

Just because my newly operated on stomach does not regurgitate, hurt or otherwise protest does not mean that picking and choosing from the list my NUT has provided is a good idea. I'll bet I could eat Haagan Daaz, chocolate and mac and cheese with no obvious problem but... I chose the sleeve to learn a new system of discipline that I was unable to acquire in my 62 years. Many (OK, most) of you are much younger than I am and I worry about the long term success of this program. I am not eating this way to get to goal. I am eating this way to develop a plan for the rest of my life. I hate following "the rules" but that is why I am here. Getting away with breaking/stretching the "rules" just gives me permission to break/stretch the next one. Good luck to all and peace and happiness on your journey.

I had a very small amount on puree's I was allowed flaked fish. I had zero problems with it. I ate it with pureed sautéed spinach and it was delicious.

I am on soft foods and I could have salmon. My wife made me some yesterday and it was delicious. But I realized very quickly that no matter how much I chewed it filled me up quite a bit faster than things like Soup or yogurt. I have been eating 4-5 ozs of food per meal, but with the salmon I could only have about 3 ozs.

I think the density made me fill up quicker so if you can have it, my advice would be very careful and take your time with it.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
