August 8, 201510 yr Is it true that we won't feel the effects of Ghrelin reduction until we have healed?
August 8, 201510 yr I was sleeved on 7/27 and I have felt no hunger since day 1. I only eat because I'm supposed to.
August 8, 201510 yr Ditto I felt it from the get go. It's possible if you are still having "hunger" that its head hunger or acid reflux, though there are people who don't get the hunger reduction. What you don't feel until you heal is fullness/satiation, at least many people don't. It's because the nerves have to heal before they can send those signals.
August 8, 201510 yr So once I heal it will get better? Maybe, maybe not. If it's acid you need medication from the doctor, a PPI like Omeprazole are you on one? If it's "head hunger" then you need to do the mental work--are you hungry bc you see food commercials? Because you are sad/mad/lonely/tired/frustrated? What hole does food fill for you?
August 8, 201510 yr Author I just started on a ppi and I know that it's not head hunger. I'm not craving bad foods and I haven't ate any bad foods.
August 8, 201510 yr No hunger from day one.....and don't confuse head hunger (cravings/old habits) with hunger. Also thirst feels like hunger but its not. I try not to going too long without eating or drinking cause it causes me to try to eat or drink fast and then I get that full feeling that I don't like.
August 8, 201510 yr I don't crave bad foods.... I eat my protein all the time.... But I get hungry very very often.... I eat like 4-5 oz of food every 2-3 hours.... I can't stay hungry for long.... And the way you guys are talking (that you don't feel hungry at all) it's an alienated topic for me.... I m going to be 5months post and I have lost 47 pounds..... Is something wrong with me?
August 8, 201510 yr I heard Some ppl have hunger post op and some don't.....for me, I don't have hunger....more thirst than before op... I don't crave bad foods....
August 8, 201510 yr I think your doing great....my nut said I was grazing( eating every 2.5 hours) but I still lose weight and I don't eat junk.
August 8, 201510 yr Author I agree with your comment. I'm not craving bad food either nor have I had any. I eat protein as well and I exercise. Just because we are feeling hunger doesn't mean that we aren't complying with our surgery or its "head hunger".
August 10, 201510 yr I sometimes get hunger pains.. But I think it's because I am not getting all my water in. My surgeon says that you will at some point get hungry. I didn't for the first couple weeks post op. But like I said, when I do feel it, all I do is drink some water and it subsides.
August 10, 201510 yr How far out are you? I know some people feel hungry until they can start eating soft foods. I'm not sure where you're at on your journey. I do get hungry sometimes, but only when I'm out of my daily routine and haven't eaten in a while. If I stick to my normal plan and eat something small every 2-3 hours, I don't feel hunger in between.
