I got a call from the surgical coordinator THIS MORNING who said I do not have to wait to schedule anymore AND she is going to try to schedule the pre-op stuff in the same day as my final NUT appt! I am so HAPPY!!!!!

I went from waiting to having a surgery date in 19 days! Sooooooo much to do.

  • Hi ladies. I am now officially post op !! Feeling way better than I expected. I am very tired but I'm comfortable and relaxed. Surgery went well and the hospital staff is awesome !! Hope all of us

  • I am officially post op now too! I'm still pretty groggy but just did my first walk. Yay! It is going much better than I expected as well.

  • I think I've come through pretty well. 1 bout of nausea yesterday after surgery but no vomiting. Gas is concentrated more up top so a lot of burping but no real pain. Finally got some ice chips today.

I've found it's not just the initial gas pain, but the pressure pain that comes from sipping. Yesterday I was able to get through three 16.9 fluid ounce Ozarka bottles but it literally took me all day up til midnight. I woke up feeling less incision pain today and I was able to get through a GNC Total Lean protein shake, but finding the right amount to sip of each different liquid so the pressure DOESN'T build up in my chest is kind of tiring. Might be a nap in my future. Zzz

I'm struggling with the liquids too. It took me 6 hours to get 16oz down yesterday. The gas pains are still ferocious but I keep walking & walking ... I am nursing some very runny cream of wheat now and cannot drink again for 30 minutes????We will get this all down like pros in no time ????????☺️

Hi guys. I am still in the hospital and have to stay another night. I've got wicked nausea and I've been dry heaving. I have eaten hardly anything since getting sleeved on 8/17 and I am very week. Haven't had the dry heaves since noon but the nausea and pain between my shoulder blades is back. I just want it to go away.

Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know I'm doing awesome. My surgery was August 17th. I came home August 18th. Leak test was good. I've been walking a mile three times a day. This helps with the gas pains. I manage to get all my fluids in. Tomorrow I start my three shakes a day. And vitamins again. I just heard from insure nutrition.com and they said my Medicare covers all the nutritional supplements. I was so happy to hear that. They are taking care of all of the paperwork for me and contacting my doc for everything they need. That's a big relief. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. I started this journey at 226 lbs. now I'm 191.4 lbs. I really want this. I told my doc that if he agrees to do a great job on me and take care of me that I def will do my part and take care of me as well. This is the new me time! I see him again August 25. My stitches should be off by that day. Ormc was the best hospital and they took excellent care of me. Dr Seth Judd is a great surgeon. I'm glad I had my family there every step of the way before surgery and after surgery. Thank you God for watchingbover me!

Margie. Walk every minute you can. That's what I did. I was burping and passing gas. I even walked all night long. Pushing my iv pole with me. I was discharged in one day.

@tx it will all be worth it.

Everything is awesome. I'm making a huge meal for my family right now. A show of appreciation for everything they have done for me. I feel amazing

The gas really is the worst part. 3 days post op today and I feel pretty good. I also am still wanting to sleep a lot and haven't been able to get all the liquids down but my doctor says that's okay right now just get down what as much as I can. Phew. This is definitely no "easy way out."

I am having problems with heavy pain and not drinking as much but I am doing my part I am home and havent slept good at all!!

When I was still in the hospital, every time I would walk I would feel so nauseous I had to immediately get back in bed to sleep it off after just one loop. Turns out the pain medication was making me feel so terrible and I actually felt way more alert with more energy and overall wellness when it accidentally came out during a nap. An hour or so after that and I was ready to be discharged!

Kozujosie I have been walking up a storm. I think they have it figured out ... It's the narcotics that are making me so nauseous. I'm off all narcotics by mouth. I have a fentanyl patch (3 day extended relief) Pam, taking anti nausea mess. And using antiinflammatories for pain.

Feeling better I just hope and pray I don't go back!

Today has been my first full day at home and I have mostly been by myself. Ugh, it's been miserable. I'm not really in a lot of pain but I have broken down a couple times thinking I've made a big mistake. I keep having to remind myself why I made this decision. Just stinks not having anyone here right now.

You did the right thing !! It's just so overwhelming at first ... Keep your chin up ????

@TXTinana

I know the feeling being away from all the hospital meds and reclining beds etc is hard. And being woke up to be given pain meds etc was a pain i realize now why they did it. I slept through last night as i was so tired but woke up feeling terrible having not kept up with my drug regime. Every sip of water has been painful and have to burb.

Anyway I have started to learn a few tricks- warm sugar free flavoured drink is going down much better than cold plain water. for me warm smoothy runny soup is going in better than cold Greek yogurt etc. (better mention here my nut/surgeon plan is straight onto thinker liquids that could be strained like protien shake and smooth runny soup etc)the worst thing is all my meds seem to be quite big capsules which really hurt. :(

I'm starting to feel a little shakey on m feet and weak armed so now i've got my new tricks trying to get in as much as possible before i get more dehydrated and too low for too long on calories.

I believe in a week or so so long as we all work on our own tips and tricks with in our guidelines we will start feeling more human :)
